Policehave charged a 41-year-old man with the murder and abduction of missing Sunshine Coast schoolboy Daniel Morcombe.
The 13-year-old went missing in 2003, sparking Queensland's biggest missing persons investigation.
Tonight Commissioner Bob Atkinson announced police had charged a Perth man with murder, deprivation of liberty, child stealing, indecent treatment of a child and interfering with a corpse.
Daniel's parents, Denise and Bruce, confirmed tonight they had been made aware of the arrest but would not issue a statement until tomorrow.
Daniel was waiting on the side of the road to catch a bus to buy Christmas presents on December 7, 2003 when he was last seen. Witnesses said they saw a scruffy, gaunt-looking man next to him.
