Possible manipulation of votes cast in Division 6 CRC Blog poll

If the CRC Div.6 election was held today who would you vote for?

                             __________________________________

If we examine closely the above figures we find that the 200 votes were distributed as follow:

Cooper         43 votes     21%

Rees             18 votes     9%

Sheppard    139 votes   70%

I do not see a problem with the above result except to say that Annette Sheppard must be an extremely popular ex Councillor.

What has been brought to my attention by various readers of my Blog is the abnormally high voter turn out for Division 6. The average votes per Division is 126 and yet in Division 6, 200 votes were cast. I find this abnormally inflated and the possibility of manipulation is of concern to the moderator.

I have therefore, removed the suspect Division 6 poll and have posted a new one. I will be keeping a close eye on this Division for any trend that is inconsistent with the average votes cast in other Divisions.

For the record I also notice that the votes cast for Division 9 of late also show signs of possible manipulation. However, at this stage I am proposing to take no further action.

This poll in by no means scientific and therefore is open to manipulation and honesty is paramount. Cheers.

  1. Ross would your action be the result of a little altercation on another blog site earlier today? I find it reather strange that you are singling out Division 6. Could you explain 'push polling' please? As you say your 'poll' is by no means 'scientific', how is it possible for it to be open to 'manipulation? Some of the other Divisions have large gaps between candidates also. Why don't you just finish this 'poll' and start another, rather than be seen to be selective in how you manage the outcome. Are you going to unilaterally delete 'unfavourable' results?

    1. Annette, am unsure what you are on about. My Blog poll is indicative only and can only work if it is not manipulated. However, I will continue to be vigilant and if I notice that there are obvious discrepancy I will intervene. With respect ...to your Division 6 you obviously did not understand my reasoning. I am not concerned about the popularity or otherwise of candidates, what concerns me is the total vote. In Div 6 the total vote is in excess of 80 beyond the average of all Division. I do think you need to move on and in so doing concentrate in your Division as you have your work cut out. Please also note that I have yet to make up my mind as to whether I am a CRC candidate...Cheers.

    2. Ross I'm not Annette. You and she had a difference of opinion on another blog that I'm sure contributed to your decision to act as you have. You never answered my questions and it still remains that you have made a decision based upon spurious reasoning. Why is 80 votes more than other divisions significant? Your 'intervention' smacks of bias. Be reasonable and start them all again.

    3. Based on circumstantial evidence. I will repeat again for your purposes. The average vote for each Division at the time in question was 126. Division 6 had 80 more votes cast, in other word 70% more. That to me indicates tampering of sort. Finally, if other Division show such a surge I will be examining them as well.

    4. Ross how do you work out 70% more. I got a distinction in stats and I don't get that!!! Check your numbers.

    5. Good morning Anonymous. Since you got the Distinction in Maths, I defer to you to work out the percentages. Cheers.

  2. So Ross does this mean that the whole lot of results may be wrong, as I have said before I cannot find out much about Zac Murphy but he is voting well!!!! The same with Steve Brain. And the Alliance has no one!!!! People are very strange are they not?!

  3. Considering that a number of your Divisins have phantom candidates and they are pulling votes Ross, how can you claim any validity at all?

  4. Independent polls put unity way ahead. It appears that this poll is way off the mark. The latest one I heard about just about suggests a clean sweep.

    1. Indeed my Blog is fairly unbiased and I will strive to ensure that it continues in the light but I will protect its integrity when I think it is being tampered with...Cheers.

  7. Aren't there thousands of voters in each division? Aren't some divisions much wider spread therefore harder for candidates to reach all in their divisions? Hasn't candidate in question lived in that division for more than 25 years suggesting it is quite reasonable that her community are supporting her by way of votes? Isn't that called campaigning? If this action occurred in a work place would it not be classed as some sort of discrimination?

    1. Thank you for your contribution. Kindly read what I have said in my reply to Anonymous 1 ( Annette ) Your argument re: 'wider spread' does not hold water when you examine Division 10.Cheers.

    1. Thank you for your comment. To the best of my knowledge no other candidate has come forward. I have assumed that there may be a contest so I have nominated the 2 Teams that a candidate could come from other than an Independent. Indeed Julia Leu may have no challengers and in that case she would be elected unopposed.

  9. Whoever made the above comment, it's not from this Annette (Sheppard).
